Position Title: Director of Outreach and Communications

Location: Evergreen Presbyterian Church, Montgomery, Ohio

Reports To: Minister

Employment Type: Full-time preferred

Position Overview: The Director of Outreach and Communications will develop and implement strategies to help make Evergreen Presbyterian Church a vital and caring part of our community, including: connecting the congregation with people and projects outside of Evergreeen’s walls, helping to grow Evergreen’s newest ministry, “The Grove at Evergreen”, and driving external awareness of our people, our work, and our commitment to loving everyone.

Key Responsibilities:

Outreach Strategy & Community Engagement:

– In conjunction with the minister, develop, promote, and recruit for our outreach program, “The Grove”.  This is meant to be a community of connection, learning, and spiritual growth. This is a major part of Evergreen’s mission and vision.

– Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach strategy to connect with the local community, unchurched individuals, and those in need of spiritual and practical support.

– Cultivate relationships with the pastor, community leaders, organizations, and churches to foster collaboration and build the church’s presence in the community.

– Create and manage a team of volunteers to assist with outreach activities and events.

– Coordinate and promote outreach events, church services, and community engagement initiatives, both online and in-person.

– Work closely with ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers to ensure effective collaboration and engagement.

Communications & Media:

– Develop and implement a communications strategy that promotes the church’s message, events, and initiatives.

– Oversee the creation and distribution of internal and external communications.

– Maintain and regularly update the church website and social media platforms, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and reflects the church’s values.

Qualifications:

-An eagerness to serve others and a desire to make an impact in both the church and the broader community.

– Proven track record in outreach and community engagement. Strong background in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.

– Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and digital communication tools (email marketing, website management).

– Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

– Experience in event planning, coordination, and promotion.

– Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

– Bachelor’s degree preferred.

– Previous experience in church ministry or non-profit organizations is a plus.

– Proactive, creative, and resourceful with a positive attitude.

– Strong problem-solving skills.
